Each venue will showcase a challenging ‘unroad’ multi-surface course that takes advantage of the unique topography these beautiful locations have on offer, from the old growth forest of the Hell of the Great White North in BC to the multiple cyclocross features of the Hell of the Mid-West (KS) and the cobble stoned streets of the Infierno Del Sur in Queretaro, Mexico. Each route is uniquely designed to include a multitude of technically challenging sectors. Waffle courses range in length from 110- to 144-miles, with Wafer courses between roughly 68- and 84-miles. Some venues will have Wanna Rides, which are typically around 40-miles. Elevation gain will range from 6,500 feet to 14,000 feet for the various Waffle courses.

The Quadrupel Crown will be contested in a points-based omnium format across all seven of the 2023 BWRs. Riders competing for the Quadrupel honors and prize purse will be scored based on the total points of their top four (Quad) races. All Quad contenders must compete in BWR CA and BWR KS.

The BWR is one of only five Monuments of Gravel on the planet and is known as the most unique cycling event in the world, with each location offering its own special features, topography and atmosphere. Online registration for the final three events of 2023 opens January, 2023, at 8 a.m. (PST) at BelgianWaffleRide.Bike.

About the Quadrupel Crown of Gravel

Created as an extremely challenging race in the spirit of the great European one-day Spring Classics, the BWR is an unusually difficult race across a variety of mixed surfaces. At most venues, there will be three distances on offer: the longest Waffle route, a half the distance Wafer option for those looking to get a taste of the fun without the life-changing commitment of the Waffle. Plus, the Wanna ride, which is roughly half the Wafer.

Each Waffle will offer a prize purse to top finishers, female and male. The Quadrupel Crown of Gravel Series has a separate prize purse to the top five men and women overall across all the events, based on the points scored for the top four placings of the seven total racces available.

The Quadrupel Crown is comprised of seven races, including AZ, CA, BC, NC, UT, KS, MX:

  • Applies to the Waffle and Wafer

  • Riders must finish at least 4 races

  • Riders must start BWR CA
